THE MURPHY METHOD
RALPH STANLEY STYLE BANJO
MURPHY HENRY
5-String Banjo Tuition DVD

Ralph Stanley Style Banjo At last, an entire video devoted to the songs of Ralph Stanley. Of course we teach Man of Constant Sorrow (two versions, in D position and G position). But we also teach old favourites such as Little Maggie, Clinch Mountain Backstep, Daybreak In Dixie, Riding On That Midnight Train, and How Mountain Girls Can Love. Casey Henry teaches Man of Constant Sorrow in D, and Chris Henry joins Murphy at the end of each lesson to play guitar. This intermediate DVD can be used with ease after Beginning Banjo Vol. 1 and 2. Each song taught note by note without tab.
The Murphy Method is a way of teaching bluegrass music BY EAR. They use no tablature in our teaching because they believe tablature is a crutch that interferes with learning to play bluegrass. They explain each song note by note, so that it is easy and quick to learn. As you learn these tunes, you are also developing your ear, so that learning actually gets easier as you go along!
We hope you will soon be joining the thousands of Murphy Method students all over the world who are learning to play bluegrass the Murphy Method way. One reason their Method is so successful is that they work with you slowly, one step at a time. First you will be learning the easy songs which will provide a solid foundation. Then you will move onto harder songs, which won't seem so hard because you will have already learned the basics. And you will have learned them right!
