BARRY HARRIS
THE JAZZ MASTER CLASS SERIES
Piano Tuition DVD

Part of being an artist is being a teacher. Directly or indirectly, through their work or their words, artists teach. In this series of DVDs, some of the most important jazz artists are presented in a unique master class setting. They perform, they talk about their lives and work, students play for them and the comment and instruct those students. Students discuss their expectations before the class and their thoughts after the class. Viewers will observe learning taking place, and come to understand how great artists think, perform, and teach.
Dr. Harris, a renowned jazz pianist, composer and teacher is a Detroit-bred jazz musician and keeper of the bebop flame. Dizzie Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, Charlie Parker and Coleman Hawkins influenced Harris' jazz style and you will hear Harris mention some of these masters in the video above. In this master class, you get a taste of Harris' extensive knowledge and love of teaching and how he has and continues to serve as a mentor to developing pianists.
